We raise our hogs on a high quality feed ration. They have a grain ration that is a homegrown recipe that we mix with fresh goats milk to produce the best tasting pork you will ever have. Our hogs spend most of their day foraging out in the pasture for tasty treats they root up. They are not fed any chemicals or medications, they are free to come and go as they please!
10. What is the process for ordering a Whole/Half Hog?
We are taking orders for whole or half hogs for Spring and Fall harvests. Whole hog deposit is $200 and a half is $100. We charge $3.15 a pound for pork.
A whole hog will dress out at around 235-270 pounds of pork. We take your pig to a local processor and they cut up your meat to your specification. We will let you know when your hog is ready to be taken to butcher. and at that time you will call the butcher and fill out what cuts of meat you want. The more specialty curing/sausage making you have done to your hog will depend on how much they charge you for the final product. This is a separate price from what we charge, and can average around 50 cents a pound. This money is not included in our price. The butcher will call us and tell us the amount of pork that your hog is, and we will total up how much you owe on your hog with the deposit being deducted from the total price. You will then go to the butcher and they will total up how much you owe them for processing. If you are unsure of what you want to get with your hog you can always go to the butcher and have them explain things to you or you can come to us and ask us! You will be getting quite a bit of pork with this. A whole hog filled an entire 7.1 cubic foot freezer. Yes it is a lot to pay on pork at one time, but it will last you the entire year! You will be getting over 20 pounds of bacon plus all of the other cuts you choose to have! You can come to the farm to put down your deposit or you can do it via credit card over the internet on our online store!
